NICE–Melbourne Biomedical Innovation Exchange
NICE–Melbourne Biomedical Innovation Exchange

The NICE–Melbourne Biomedical Innovation Exchange is a curated biomedical innovation event connecting research institutions, startups, industry professionals, and investors across Australia and China.
The event was co-hosted and organised by Melbourne Venture Club, together with the National Innovation Centre par Excellence (NICE) / Jiangsu Industrial Technology Research Institute (JITRI), Boson Ventures, and Jumar Bioincubator. As one of the key organisers,
Melbourne Venture Club played an important role in coordinating the programme, bringing together participants from academia, industry, and the startup ecosystem, and facilitating meaningful dialogue across the biomedical innovation community. Members and students from the club gained valuable insights and learning opportunities through direct engagement with leading experts and entrepreneurs.
Hosted at Jumar Bioincubator (CSL), the exchange served as a focused platform to explore translational research, emerging biomedical technologies, and collaboration opportunities between academia, industry, and early-stage ventures.
The programme featured keynote perspectives, selected project presentations, and a moderated panel discussion, followed by informal networking sessions. A number of innovative startups, researchers, and industry professionals delivered insightful presentations, sharing their experiences in biomedical research, technology commercialisation, venture building, and cross-border collaboration.
Rather than a large-scale conference, the event was intentionally designed as a small, curated exchange, encouraging open dialogue, real project discussions, and meaningful connections within the biomedical innovation ecosystem. The event also highlighted opportunities for international collaboration between Australia and China, particularly in advancing biomedical technologies from research to real-world impact.
